  • I am wife to Will, and mama to a little girl named Aria Lea and two fur babies named Fujitsu and Tiny.

Hello! I'm Kayte

A little deeper

I actually started cutting hair when I was 12! My mother handed me a pair of tiny mustache scissors and said, “Here. You’d be good at this: cut your little brother’s hair.” 😂
After that I started cutting family and friends’ hair.

When I was 19 I told my friend who owned a theatre company that her students needed serious help cause their hair didn’t match the time period. For the next 11 years I worked backstage doing all the hair and makeup for 30+ kids per night.

I studied math and engineering in college but my goal had always been to eventually go back to school for cosmetology and have a salon in my home so that I could homeschool and still help with bringing in money. I finally got that opportunity when I was downsized from my position as an Actuarial Assistant and was able to follow my passions.  I earned my Associates Degree in Cosmetology in 2017 and my instructor’s license in 2019.  

In 2017 I got the opportunity to work with fashion designer Rachel Pollak on her runway show.  I realized that the backstage rush felt just like home to me with all my years of theatre styling.  Since 2018 I have enjoyed working with top designers at KCFW to bring their visions to life and am now a lead stylist.

My biggest passion, however, is bridal hair.  I love working with brides and being part of their special day.  Nothing is better than making ladies feel beautiful and confident and hearing the "Oh my goodness!  I love it!" when they get to see their finished look.
